Wandering the banks of the Ganges between Swargashram and Lakshman Jhula, I sat on a boulder and painted this sadhu (wandering ascetic) as he performed the tasks of setting up camp for the evening. The stainless steel bucket he holds is his only belonging. It serves as food container, bucket for washing, and a drinking vessel, among other things, surely. I started this painting with monochrome ink washes then added color.
